I’m a journalist whose work has been featured in the New York Times and Columbia Journalism review, as well as a corporate communications expert working with high profile tech and venture capital firms on content that ranges from simple blog posts & web copy to ghost-written or co-authored articles & white papers. As that work suggests, I have a knack for making complex technical subjects understandable to a general audience, telling great brand stories, and finding the story-behind-the-story. I speak fluent “engineer”!
I’ve also had a long career in advertising, first as a copywriter then creative director. I’ve worked at agencies and on the client side, in telecoms, finance, healthcare, retail, automotive, real estate development, among many other sectors. I’ve conceived and written campaigns that effectively used both on- and offline media. As a copywriter, I am…
A self-starter
A team player who will work as hard on other people’s ideas as my own
Able to keep creative partners on-brand and on-strategy without being a buzz-kill
I’m the author of the book Build a Brand Like Trader Joe’s. My ideas formed the basis of one of Freakonomics’ most-streamed podcasts.
I have an extremely wide-ranging education (University of Calgary) and interests. I love learning new subjects and am a quick study.

I have often collaborated with Mark Eimer to deliver “white label” creative agencies can present as their own work. Together, we offer agencies a turn-key creative team that can hit the ground running.
