Are you still a motorcycle racer?
I’m almost completely retired from racing. I might disappear for a few days, every now and then (and with lots of notice) but it’s not like the old days, when I was doubtful every Friday and Monday from March to October, because I was racing every weekend.What about that crazy testing stuff you do?
I test motorcycles (and tires) for a few magazines. It’s just a couple of days at a time, mostly in the winter when new models are released.
That sounds like fun. If you’re one of the world’s most widely read motorcycle journalists, why don’t you just do that for a living?
You should see my medical bills. An hour after the photo above was taken, I was in an Australian hospital. The billing department clerk took my gold Visa card, ground it into powder, and snorted it up her nose. Her eyes dilated as she looked at me, sniffed, and said, “Ah, that was good.”
